Online Bape

Via Hypebeast:
After limiting their product primarily to the overseas market and select locations within the US, Bape looks to open their online store very soon. Offering up their limited edition goods and hard-to-find garments, the Japanese streetwear brand opens up their availability extensively.
Will this be available to everyone, or just people in Japan? Will it cost 300 bills for a sweater? (probabaly)

More info in the near future.

I Have Fallen in Love

Saw these on Ye's blog today and my jaw hit the floor...

Oh my goodness.

USA Network approves of Lupe Fiasco

USA usually reserves these honors for special people like Triple H and that guy from Monk. Well, now Lupe gets to join their ranks as he gets his own ad. It's a series done by the people at USA that promotes individuals that change their industry. Others include Jimmy Wales (the dude who invented wikipedia) and Shepard Fairey.

Recording Session- Colin Munroe & Wale work on Will I Stay

When are these guys going to come out with an album? Either one of them. They are two of the most talented musicians in the game right now.

Sidenote: I just got Chillen by Wale (produced by Cool N Dre). I know I'm like a month late, but I figured some people out there might not have it either seeing that it slipped past me and I just sit at my computer all day hoping to get new music. If you don't have it yet, get it here.

Wale jumps on UK joint

Head, shoulders, knees and toes. Get it here.

All the lonely people...

B.o.B---Lonely People

This is one of the funniest videos. At least, it's one of the funniest videos when you consider the lyrics of the song. Nothing says "loneliness" like a bunch of girls ripping off their tops in a club.

Found this at illroots. They also had the Pennies video by The Cool Kids. Check that here.

This team is my life!

if you ever wanted to know what are blogger Atari looks like, there he is, in the flesh. It's a little pathetic, but I can't help but laugh. Sorry dude, it was too funny to pass up.

WTF?

A message from kwest on Vimeo.

'Ye must be on some good ish out in Par-ee.

We can take several things from this video, however:

1) Kanye no longer will be tagged the "Louis Vuitton Don" but rather "Martin Louis the King... Jr." LOL
2)'Ye and I share a common interest in one of my favorite jokes-the "who has two thumbs joke" I'm talking about of course- although his is a tad altered.
3)Wealth and fame can change you- for either the better or the worse.

Ryan Leslie Outdoes Himself... Again

Heres video part deux of three for my favorite record out as of late, How It Was Supposed to Be. I'm aware I didn't post up the inaugural vid, so peep that here. The second video is far more innovative by a long run, but the exclusively composed "rock" edition for video numero uno takes the cake in the audio category.

Look out for the final edition, which I'm sure Leslie is cooking up in the Next Selection lab as we speak.

How It Was Supposed To Be (Military Version) from Ryan Leslie on Vimeo.

Who is this newmusiccartel.com?

Click on the link to know what I'm talking about. This is the first single of Lil Wayne's new album Rebirth, which should be dropping in April. And Wayne has gone with the theme of MCs reinventing themselves and has decided this album will be a rock album.

I had a feeling something like this would happen when I was watching a replay of the VMAs with commentary. When Love Lockdown was played, Wayne said, "This song gives me permission to make my next song a non Hip Hop song." Here is the result. It's called Prom Queen.

Get it here.

And P.S. I hate those advertisements some blogs put on songs when they get an exclusive release. It's pretty self-centred.

Get Familiar: K'naan

Disclaimer: If you've been down with K'naan since day 1 (which I estimate to be sometime back in 2005 when we had some white guy running the country) I apologize. I will admit I don't know everything about music. I jump on the bandwagon real late sometimes.

Now that I've got that out of the way, I have to give my full endorsement for K'naan. The half Somalian/half Canadian MC blends "Marley music" with hip hop. If you like it cool. If not, that's cool too. I happen to be part of the group that likes this dude. He comes out with a new album in February called Troubadour which features gus like Damien Marley, Adam Levine and Mos Def.

If you want to hear his previous work, I've got you covered. For those out there who are like "I can't believe you give away music for free. That's terribel. That's stealing!" If you haven't heard of K'naan before this, you probably won't listen to his early albums. If you haven't heard his early albums, you won't buy his new album. Therefore, I'm not stealing money from K'naan. If anything, I'm helping him make money.

I thought I'd be making fun of this...

Then I realized he is pretty talented. I mean, I won't be buying a B.O.B. acoustic album, but it's good nonetheless.

What the Game's Been Missing...

His much prolonged self-titled album is set to drop February 10th. We here at the Boogie-especially myself-can't wait to see what the future has in store for the Harvard grad.

If you're one of the many individuals who have no clue as to who the man pictured above is, check out his page where you can find the first three records off the album and other bits of knowledge for your viewing pleasure.

I've been following Leslie for a minute now, so for me its like when Bron-Bron entered the League in '03: all that hype without even dropping an album (or stepping on the hardwood, for LJ23) and yet one of the most prominent producers/artists in the game.

After all, I'm pretty sure that Lebron dude lived up to the hype...

Nas- The World [Produced By 'Ye]

Finally. The two males above team up for the second time since Still Dreamin' and have themselves a super-smooth track. I'm glad 'Ye hasn't shed his experimental stature to those that he makes dope beats for, nor has Nas fell victim to the you know what. Off the Home of the Giants Mixtape.

Enjoy

I'M BACK..

Yea this is it.  The long anticipated DJ Pop$ikle revival.  Just when you all thought I was either dead or locked up, I come out the closet (no gay) and totally redeem myself.  Been meaning to get back on here sooner, but been pretty busy the last few months.  But now I'm back and Pop ain't gona dissapoint.

Alright, first things first, the main reason I got on here is bc of this dude they call "RED".  I'll give you a little sum up: This time about a month and a half ago, this dude they call RED was living on the streets with no money, no whips, and no record deal in sight.  Until, last month he was standing outside the HVW8 gallery when he started rapping this g-funk beat that was just crazy hot and someone noticed.  Now, this video is making this man a hot commodity in the biz.  I first saw that video when it had a measly 3,700 some odd views.  Now, its up to over 150,000 and this guy is producing an album in the HVW8 studio!  If you like what you see in the video then you well be pleased to know that someone actually fixed it up a little and it's now downloadable via zshare.

That's all for now, but look forward to me entering the the boogie's rotation every 2 or 3 weeks now that my schedule is little more manageable.

"Get Down Zulu..."

Q-TIP - New Music Video - Man Woman Boogie

Heres the official video, and its quite a creative concept-courtesy of the homie Rik Cordero (who I once met on the set of Feel This Way, btw).

Still not too late to cop the album if you haven't!!!

Yeah, I am way too interested in advertising considering I'm not even an ad major

Remember that LeBron Cleveland Browns post from a few days ago? Well I was wrong about it being NIKE-related (can you blame me?). It turns out it's a State Farm ad. Anyways, here is the begining of it:

Click here for a picture-by-picture breakdown of the commercial in its entirety.

I'm Back Off Hiatus.... Atari's Gotta A Vision That's Clearer Than Evian

Its been a while, I know, but I've been busy with Spring semester starting up and getting reacquainted with my new home in Crime Capitol, USA (aka Jacksonville, FL).

So, over my hiatus I realized how much I truly love the music industry right now. So much incredible stuff is going to launch in 09, regardless of genre, but of course we look at the hip-hop industry for amusement.

Here's a list of artists set to release new albums in the year of the Ox:

- Asher Roth
- Wale
- B.o.B (who I have had in constant rotation the last 3 weeks)
- Jay-Z
- Outkast (oh yeah, its coming)
- Eminem (I'm not sure how excited the rest of my Boogie-mates are about this)
- Yeezy (though he's hinted lately that it may be like an extension of 808s)
- Common (No ID and Ye produced... My knees are already buckling)
- Mos Def (I'm Ecstatic)
- Colin Munroe (I think everyone here is officially addicted to this cat)
- Kid CuDi

If I left anyone huge off of that list, I'm sorry, but those are the one's I'll be sweating it out for this year.

More to come, my thoughts are a bit jumbled right now.

This Interviewer is Kinda Lame

but its a dope interview from the Pusher-man and Malice. Again, disregard the host; dude was trying a lil too hard LOL.
The Clipse touch on everything from the voyaging of sorts amongst different record labels, Hell Hath No Fury the Musical (?!), their anti-drug promotion-whether you believe it or not- and much more.

BTW...
What is Pusha talking about at the closing seconds of this interview? 'Till the Casket Drop Dropping this month?!
If anyone can confirm that i'd be awfully suprised.

Manwomanboogie [Video]

Only a teaser, though (you can catch the vid in its entirety tomorrow). Quite possibly my favorite record off arguably the primo album of '08.

Directed by you know who and assisted by Amanda Diva, who is featured in the joint.

You better believe the Renaissance is still in HEAVY rotation.

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU"RE SAYING!!

You could also title this Spanish Pistol Pete Part 3. This is Rick Rubio's first commercial, and he's decided to rep McDonald's just like Mike did.

Somewhere NFL DBs are holding their breath

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is for some sort of NIKE commercial

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Thank You 'Ye (And Others)

I'm not gona front- lately i've had this song in HEAVY rotation. I will also not front once again and say that i was quite discrete about this. After all, a collaboration consisting of Jaime Foxx, Joc, and Pain doesn't exactly impel me...usually (I hope i don't lose the little bit of blogging credibility i obtained after this post).
As of recently, however, I'm pretty sure I can come out the closet-no homo-and say that this joint is a soon-to-be banger. Luckily i had these sorta well-known fellas to assure me:
#1
#2
And #3
Anywho, lemme know what you think bout the track.

BTW...
Just when i thought I'd had enough of the Hip-Hop Epidemic (even P has jumped on that ish!) that is the Auto-Tune plugin artists have become enamored with, i came upon this and its hillarious.

Gotta Bounce...

Eddy Curry has many problems

Being accused of sexual harassment is bad. Being accused of sexual harassment by someone who is not your wife that you have 3 kids with is worse. Being accused of sexual harassment by a man when you are married with 3 kids is pretty much the worst. Being accused of sexual harassment by a man while being married with 3 kids and employed at a little thing we like to call the NBA is the absolute worst.

The NY Post reports Eddy Curry's driver has accused him of not just sexual harassment, but other disgusting activities. There was the time Curry made him clean towels with jizz on them so his wife wouldn't find out. Then there was the time Curry called him a "white slave"...

Glad to see somebody's got their priorities in line

Found this on BlindI's Twitter. Click here.

Warning NSFW.

Anybody think B.O.B. isn't like 3-stacks

This song is 100% Andre 3K. Except it's not.

T.I, B.O.B, and Young Dro In the Studio

The Grand Hustle fam goes to work in the lab. Even Tip gets his hands wet in the production. Really, not really.
Young Dro does just as I presumed he would do in the studio: Nothing.

Good to see Bobby Ray doing his thing under T.I. and hopefully he can expand the GH image for the better

"You're a Fool if You Don't Know it By Nowww..."

MTV picks-most likely with the help of XXL Mag and blogs such as this-the next MCs to detonate the globe in '09. They claim to be the first to present these artists to the public, but thats definitely not true unless your computer has been dead for the past 365 days or so.

LOL at the Charles Hamilton intro.

This is sooo tight

I watched this and realized a couple things:

1) Colin Munroe will be huge in 2009.

2) Colin Munroe, an up-and-comer, makes better music videos than 93.45% of mainstream artists.

For the first part, I don't mean big like Kanye, Wayne and Taylor Swift (still waiting for the collabo between those 3) but in a TV on the Radio "everybody will be listening to him on their iPods in a Starbucks" way. I am in the process of making a 2009 preview post (I did one last year, it went pretty well) and he will definitly be there.

As far as the second part, I don't know why certain artists are so much better than others. I got on the Munroe tip last year when his Flashing Lights remix video was so much better than the actual Flashing Lights video. How do people who have so much more resources get shown up by a relative unknown like Munroe? Creativity doesn't cost anything.

VICTORRRRY!!

After last night, there's not much I can say but this.

A link to a link to a download

I was doing a little browsing today and decided to check out Mr. Hudson's first album, A Tale of Two Cities, which he did with his group Mr. Hudson and the Library. I'd post the direct link, but I don't want any cease & desist emails (which I have gotten for putting stuff up on this blog, by the way), so I'll give you a link to a site, which will help you get the album.

Is it worth going through all this trouble, I have no idea. Regardless, click here if you want it.

Speaking of Ryan Leslie...

Here's a track he produced for Krys Ivory. For those who don't know (like, um.... me) Ivory has been featured in XXL Mag and apparently only wants to get next to you.

Get the track here.

Kid CuDi to Star On HBO

Don't believe me?
Peep this

Sidenote: The picture above is dope and yes this is an indicator that Ryan Leslie WILL work on CuDi's album. Crazyyyyyyyyyy.

Sidenote II: As you may or may not know, the Day 'N Nite Crooker's Remix was released without the consent of CuDi and his peeps. Dude is currently working on the ORIGINAL version with this guy. He's kind of a big deal.

All I can say is... Wow.

Mickey Factz-Thinking Out Loud

Mickey Factz rings in the new year with this track over Kanye's Say You Will, and goes hella hard. I'm starting to love dude more and more-and this may be my favorite track via Factz next to Water (#20 I believe off The Leak)

Check it out below, and just disregard the whole part about him losing his phone:

What Do You Get When You Mash Up Two Of Era's Most Iconic Figures From Their Respective Genres?

This

I know you've probably had enough of other artists jumping on Jay's rhymes, but this is too dope to pass up.

Its almost like Michael Jackson doing a collabo with Elton John, but not quite.

Lupe joins British Invasion (It's been a while since we've had a Lupe post)

Lupe Fiasco has decided to throw on a fake british accent and make some rock music. I can't say it's Lupe at his best, but it is above average. I have a sneaky feeling he watched 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and was inspired by Russel Brand's character.

This is the new trend for conscious rappers. First Kanye decided to make an artistic, Radioheadesque album. Now Lupe has switched identities like Madonna and Britney Spears. I guess we can only wait for Common to start making world music.

Here is Heirplane and ARMY

SIDENOTE: Lupe has announced the first single off Everywhere will be "Shining Down." Everywhere is the first of the three-part series that is LupE.N.D.

Gatorade going Hip Hop

That right there is the new Gatorade ad. It features Muhamed Ali, Candace Parker, Derek Jeter, Dr. J amd-oh yeah- Lil Wayne. Why? I have no clue, but whatever.

And here's a Murs freestyle for another Gatorade ad:

See this now

Best movie I've seen since Dark Knight. Get at it.
