BET May Actually Maintain a Half-Decent TV Spot

No it's not Rap City 2.0, but recently BET has devised a Rap City-esque show airing hip-hop videos and with featured guests. I stumbled upon it-at 2 a.m. i may add-and much to my surprise it wasn't Shawty-Lo or Plies doing what they do (nothing), but rather Naledge and Double-O. The show-The Deal- is hosted by Memphitz & Diamond Kutz (got me there) and it may potentially be a good look for the network.

Heres the Kidz in the Hall freestyle, with Naledge wildin' out and Double-O doing his thing:

(Notice the smooth transition into Go Hard)

Also heres another exclusive video via the Deal. The boys of Camp Lo do a reverse edition of Pop Champagne and although ephermal its dope:

Now you can actually listen to the song with a refined beat and minus Jim Jones.

108 and Done

That's right. For those of you who religiously follow the NBA and its featured stars (above), CP3 has had at least one steal in his last 108 games, an NBA record for you stat junkies. This (de)feat was snapped today, in a crushing loss to Superman and the Magic, who look foreal right now.

It was a good run while it lasted, Chris, and its a shame the streak had to cease on a festive day such as this. Hopefully he received a nice present today to mitigate his suffering (;])

Just kidding; we don't endorse that...

Anyways I gotta bounce. The C's vs. Lakers is poppin' off right about now, and it looks to be a real barn-burner from the get-go.

It is still the regular season, right?

Happy Chrismukkah from your pals at The Boogie

Happy Holidays everybody!

Happy Hannukah: From Wale

Wale once again unexpectedly blesses us with his presence as he hops on this track alongside Mark Ronson's boy, Daniel Merriweather

This gift also dropped in the wee-hours of the night. Its a tad bit odd to hear the DC youngin' on a Cool and Dre (this is...) produced record-especially without the Ronson signature bongos-but its still dope.

You know you're nice when you make references to McLovin' and Chris Mullin in the same verse.

They Grow Up So Fast...

My computer says its December 19th, 2008, which means The Boogie is officially one year old.

From a white-washed, black font-ed jump-start (that's a lot of hyphens) crew of rapscallions to a blacked out, blue font-ed group of well-adjusted (sometimes absent) minds that are always on the prowl for the latest in hip-hop, fashion, or anything that jumps into our minds to help feed our fans.

We know we aren't swimming in readers, but those who are loyal to the blog, we greatly appreciate your readership, and hope that you stick with us for many years to come.

We have our inspiration. The guys and gals we turn to to get our clocks ticking. Many thanks to our 'Get Familiar' list, and especially the dudes at Way More Fresher for their support and looks from their side of the blogosphere.

Most of all, I'd like to thank my fellow contributors at my e-home away from home for a great year: Mr. Fresco (as I've taken to calling him), Skateboard D, and our two (slightly) estranged Boogie-ers Gonzo and DJ Pop$ikle. You all have opened my eyes to a whole new side of music, and I doubt I'll ever close them.

I may not have been the fan favorite, but I know I've had a great time these last 12 months, and hope to continue the growth and rise of this blog to the top.

Thanks everybody, lets keep this show going.

The Highly Anticipated Post

If you read this blog or any blog of that matter, you must be familiar with the good folks of G.O.O.D. music who are indeed getting their dreams out. Not only are they the best dressed label (its a fact) but they are headed by blog hogger-and a prominent writer himself- Kanye West. Alongside the LV Don, the supporting cast includes the likes of Common, the Cons, GLC, Sa-Ra, Fanzworth, and other talented artists of the Hip-Hop and now Experimental genres that these dudes represent. If you didn't come to the assumption already, this label is super diverse (even though diverse isn't politcally correct nowadays lol). They're like the label version of the ladies via the Facts of Life-I'm not calling them gay, believe me-and each of them bring something to the table.

As if i couldn't love the organization enough, they recently implemented a 3-headed monster that you may not be 100% familiar with. Lemme break it down for you-in o favorable order:
First you got the homie out of Ohio, Kid CuDi. Whether we Hip-Hop heads like it or not, CuDi is blowing up around the globe with his single Day 'N Nite, Crookers Remix. I can't seem to figure it out, but apparently the production wasn't impelling to the mainstream audiences so they had to generate a wack beat. Whatever, thats another story.
Anywho, dude is doppeee; from his baby milo hoodies to his swag, CuDi is nice right now. Theres a reason 'Ye signed the dude outta Cleveland, and he even gave him a look on 808s and Heartbreak, and the two conceived one of my favorite tracks on the record. Check him out

2) I introduce to you: Big Sean. Yeah, hes been featured on this blog previously, but BS needs some respect. He's working on his album, Finally Famous, probably as we speak right now. You've seen the vid with him in the studio with Leonardo P, so you know its going to be a hot album. 'Ye recently gave the Detroit native some love in the Paranoid Remix (its not really a remix like Diddy would do it, but Big Sean did his thing), which is pretty dope. Peep it

3) To cap things off, you got most overlooked artist of the trio, Mr. Hudson. Cue the suprise right about now. Don't let his pigment-or lack thereof- deceive you. No offense to the fellas above, Hudson may be the most talented of the recent signees. He hails from the UK and is a singer/songwriter. He even wrote a few ballads on 808s which aside from Paranoid it may have been Streetlights, but i could easily be wrong. Peep his space and don't tell me this guy isn't gonna blow up; he's already established himself overseas. But who am i to judge? Hudson is nice right now.

So basically 'Ye has devised what the Giants have over in the Meadowlands. No, not a crappy stadium, but the triumphant trio AKA Earth, Wind, and Fire. CuDi is Brendan Jacobs, BS is Derrick Ward, and that leaves Mr. Hudson as Ahmad Bradshaw.

Watch out.

Its about to be a TKO

Who's gonna save my soul now??

Here's a pretty dope remix of a pretty dope Gnarls Barkley song. Jay Electronica is going to have a future with a dedicated fan base and no mainstream love, which is a good thing. Get the remix here.

Sidenote: If anyone saw the Grammy nominations, they noticed that this song is up for video of the year. This makes me so happy. Overall, it's a pretty decent list. Honey got a look and so did Radiohead's dope self. If any of those win, I'm gonna be happy, but nothing holds a candle to Gnarls Barkley in this catagory.

Faggot

To those that care,

I am sorry that I haven't been updating the last few weeks. I have been overloaded with final exams. I just finished my last exam of the semester 45 minutes ago. I feel so good, but not good enough to let a video like this slide.

Kid CuDi- Too $hort [Freestyle]

The homie CuDi paying homage to the Bay area faithful.

Whats my favorite word...

*UPDATE*
I just found this which you might find a tad more interesting:

Jew Unit + Man on the Moon=Niceness
Who's your winner? lol (sorry CuDi).

And by the way, does anyone know where can I cop those dope ass mocassins Asher has been sportin' hard lately?

Its Over! Leaving!

My Top 25 of 2008

The year of 2008 has come and gone like Shwayze's career in the rap game. This year may have been the best complete year of music in my life. Every genre I listen to (meaning just about everything) had a great lineup of music to drop. So to recap the 08, I will share my Top 25 listens.

This list is not in any particular order of relevance, so I'm not playing favorites towards anyone. I am also including a few mixtapes and 'unofficial' albums, some of which have been featured here on The Boogie.

I already know that I may catch a lot of flack for some of these picks, but I can take the criticism.

So with out any further ado, here are my picks for the Top 25 albums from 2008:

The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely

One of my personal favorite bands, which is a side project of Jack White (of The White Stripes). It was inspired by Zeppelin and The Who, and is dripping in blues-esque heavy riffs.

Atmosphere - When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold

Maybe not Atmosphere's best, but still damn good in today's hip-hop world. Slug and Ant tell their regular stories about the ugly side of life, and use their signature imagery to put you in the middle of the room in every song.

Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak

I've expressed my sentiments toward this album before, and they haven't changed. This album gets better and better after every listen. I think Paranoid may be my favorite track of 08.... maybe.

Q-Tip - The Renaissance

Just another one of those Q4 releases that almost transcends hip-hop in terms of its sound. The monotone drone of Tip's voice is something that was sadly missed, and with this comeback I'll be satisfied even he does decide to take another decade off.

Mudcrutch - Mudcrutch

From Gainesville and headed by Tom Petty, its a pseudo-Southern rock/blues-ish band that really surprised me this year. They're new, but have been in existance since 1970, its a long story...

88 Keys - The Death of Adam

I think I speak for the entire Boogie lineup when I say that this album might be the most slept on piece of brilliance in 2008. How a record like this could go so unnoticed in the mainstream is rediculous.

The Cool Kids - The Bake Sale EP

I feel like we've been talking about these guys for 5 years, but this EP was 'officially' released in June, and I still listen to it every other day it seems. I still think the beat on 'A Little Bit Cooler' is the nastiest thing I've heard in 2008.

Mitch Hedberg - Do You Believe in Gosh?

This a comedy album. Produced during one of the last shows Mitch Hedberg ever did before his overdose in 2005. Even though its been 3 years since his passing, his material is still great, and made me realize how much I miss this comedic genius.

Erykah Badu - New Amerykah Part One

This was her first album in 5 years, and it was worth the wait. She still sounds the same, she's still kinda sorta crazy, and the hair is still plentiful. Her videos are fresh, too.

John Mayer - Where the Light Is: Live In LA

People hate on him for being the epitome of soft, gushy chick rock, but the dude can play the shit out his guitar, and that's especially evident in this CD/DVD package that's well worth the money.

Murs - Murs for President

Guys been around forever, and he continues to reinvent himself, and push a new message at his listeners. He did a great job telling his story and throwing his political prowess into the mix at the same time.

Brad Paisley - Play: The Guitar Album

Yes, its a country album, and you can say whatever you want about it. Brad Paisley (like the aforementioned John Mayer) can play the daylights out of his guitar, and any album that features the legendary BB King at least once has to be good.

The Roots - Rising Down

Nowhere near Game Theory or Illadelph Halflife, in my opinion, but this was still great. This album was a true showcase of (my hero) ?uestlove's talent on the drums. The simple beats he puts down for this album are technical juggernauts on the case.

N*E*R*D - Seeing Sounds

Do I even have to comment on this album? If you've read this blog over the last 12 months, then you have to know how much each and everyone of us love this record. And just to beat the dead horse a little bit more: THANK YOU P, CHAD AND SHAE.

of Montreal - Skeletal Lamping

This band and this album are.... um.... uhh.... different? Electro beats, synths and (at times) heavy riffs set this band apart from any other. Tracks about drugs, trannies and a certain part of the human anatomy may not be for everyone, but I love the sound they make.

MGMT - Oracular Spectacular

Mr. Fresco let me know about this group last year, and I haven't looked back. Their sound is almost impossible to describe (much like of Montreal, who they are touring with, as a matter of fact), and the concepts behind their videos are almost more impossible, but I love it.

Colin Munroe - ...Is the Unsung Hero

Yet another one of the guys Fresco got me turned onto. Even though this tape only dropped a couple weeks back, its still become one of my rapid favorites. When this guy's debut drops next year, I'll be first in line to buy it.

Adele - 19

This girl can flat out sing. This album is flat out amazing. And, if you knock me for loving this record, you're flat out dumb.

Elzhi - The Preface

Formerly part of the infamous Slum Village, Elzhi dropped two great albums in 08, with The Preface being my personal favorite. Its about time someone from Detroit came out with something meaningful, who's name isn't Marshall Mathers.

John Legend - Evolver

Yet another one of those albums hawked by The Boogie and just about every other blog on the face of the planet. Its not 'Get Lifted', but it was still G.O.O.D. Ya see what I did there?

Jay-Z & Coldplay (Mick Boogie and Terry Urban) - Viva la Hova

I cannot stop listening to this thing. This may have been the greatest idea since the computer was invented. Beach Chair is another track that's in the running for best of 08.

Wale - The Mixtape About Nothing

If you still haven't heard this yet, you're missing out. The sole proprietor of DC seems to be changing the game one track at a time, and this is part of the reason why. March couldn't come fast enough.

Rhymefest - The Man in the Mirror

Mark Ronson and Rhymefest in one package. Is it supposed to be this easy?

Maroon 5 and Everyone Else - Call & Response: The Remix Album

Another tape that just came out a couple weeks back, but its perfect. ?uestlove's production of Sunday Morning is like listening to the gates of heaven open.

Esoteric - vs. Japan: Pterodactyl Takes Tokyo!

This was hard to find, so I got it from a 'friend' via forum. It flew so far under the radar that wikipedia doesn't even have an entry for it.

So there we have it. 25 albums that I loved almost as much as life itself.

Love Lockdown x Heartless/Pinocchio Story (!)

From last night's edition of SNL, which was Amy Polar's final show.

I know what you're wondering and no, Kanye didn't contribute to ANY (c'mon Lauren!) skits this time. I would have loved to see a Andy Samberg/'Ye (dream) collabo, but instead I am left dissapointed.

The intermix of Heartless into Pinocchio Story and then back to Heartless was dope, though, and so was that outfit-possibly more Pastelle for us to feast-and dream of purchasing- our eyes on.

AND i know Kanye wants to milk out his first two singles, being the ones featured above, but he should progressively start adding this piece to his repetoire:

Check My Fresh: Part IV

Bobby Ray is an Atlanta rapper who writes, produces, arranges, raps, and mixes his own music. The ATLien is signed to Grand Hustle (don't stop there) and needs your attention. With the exception of his recently leaked joint "Hot"-i refuse to provide the link-everything dude touches is gold, or at least it will be once he gets some publicity.

Hes also had me dying with his recent parody of the rap game's latest epidemic:

The chugging water shots are classic.

Thats Right I Work for NASA...

LOL i never thought i'd quote Jeezy, but it seemed fitting.

Peep my favorite song (that has leaked this week) entitled Gifted by the homies of N.A.S.A (their myspace page is down but look those dudes up!) and features Lykke Li, Santogold and that guy pictured aboved. The song is fire, and its dope with the mixture of genres the aforementioned artists bring to the table. Its so diverse its like having Yao, T-Mac, Luis Scola, and Ron-Ron on the same squad.

Are You Not Entertained?

UMC dropped today.

Am I gona front and say it surpassed the 2nd best album of '07-next to The Cool-and possibly Be? Not a chance. But if you're looking for some club bangers, Com and the Neps got you.
Back to the evaluation: this CD gets 3.25 mics from me; nice but not too nice. I mean, if this record was put out by someone like, lets say, Africa Bambaataa, then maybe I'd be feeling it a little more. Frankly, this isn't the raw Common Sense we're-or at least i am-used to, and Common tends to seem like an average MC in songs like Sex 4 Sugar and Announcement (yea, sorry) due to lack of lyrical creativity. That is something I've never thought I'd say.

Anyway to stray away from the negative aspects of the album, Common does indeed find 'The Light' in songs like Gladiator and 'What a World' (Waddup CF!). The rest you'll have to peep for yourself.

Go cop the album! I still think its worth a purchase and your time-its only 10 tracks.

'This is that new sh*t...'

Is there anyone out there...?

Last month Mr. Fresco mentioned an upcoming mash-up album with Maroon 5 and many hip-hop mainstays, and an anticipated remix of Harder to Breathe by The Cool Kids.

Well, here it is.

I can dig it.

'Ye vs. The...

'Ye posted this up on his blog today. The title 'Ye vs the Volcano has been floating around the airwaves for a minute, and Mr. West has finally confirmed it-sort of. Kanye has big plans for this tour-as is depicted in his in depth blueprint-and wants to perform in the round, or do it in the middle of the arena. Go figure.

Where did he draw the inspiration for the tour, you ask?

From the illustrious film-duo of Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, of course

Won't Trade

In case you haven't noticed (because everyone watches the first 20 or so NBA games religously, right?) Flash is back. Watch the clip above and don't tell me that first play wasn't Jordanesque.

Just incase you forgot, Dwayne was sidelined for almost half the season last year, and although he looked good in suits on the sidelines, the Heat's season could be compared to many of Craig Sager's catastrophic wardrobes. Yeah, that bad.

This season D is back like he never left, maybe even better. The face of Converse/Hexpad/Miami is leading the league in scoring, over the King, and is droppin' nearly 8 dimes a game. The performance he has displayed through only 18 games has 89% mitigated my pain-we let J-Will go- from last year, and it'll only get better. That's why I'm going out on a limb NOW and proclaiming Dwayne Wade this years MVP. Call me biased-being I'm from the Miami area-but without number 3 on the court, we'd be lucky break the double-digit mark in the W column, let alone fill up those eye popping orange and red seats.

Remember this post come June.

BTW, the reason for I titled this post 'Won't Trade' is because I'm almost positive that that is the voice of Flash in the last bit of Tip's joint. If anyone out there knows, drop some knowledge on me.

"I'm just doin what i gotta do"

To be honest, kind of a humdrum video. It is kind of cool, though, because I've seen the videos of him shooting it. Other than that, he is not on Ye-status when it comes to creative videos.

Can't wait for the Back to the Feature mixtape. Then, it's off to the studio album I hope.

"I'm Coming Home Again..."

One of the latest-and greatest- G.O.O.D. Music affiliates made the round-trip home from the UK back to his hometown the other night. Take a gander at the video derived from his homecoming below performing Day N Nite, which apparently is as popular overseas as it is in the states, if not more.

Talk about a crowd interactive concert; people are straight kickin' it on stage with CuDi. Homie needs to come to the Miami area in the near future.

BTW check the pink G-Shock and the 6's. Dude is so nice right now.

Happy Thanksgiving from The Boogie

The one holiday where its okay to never set foot off the couch, while watching some football (maybe not the best this season) and gorging your face with home-cooked food.

Happy Thanksgiving to our readers...we know you're out there,

The Boogie.

Keep Bouncin' (Continued)

Those are no lights around Tip; Kamal the Abstract has a glowing aura that he carries with him constantly while rockin' the mic. In short, the 2k Sports Bounce Tour was on some dope sh*t. So many memorable moments from The Knux, Mikey and Chuck, and of course Tip. Lemme breakdown the night chronologically the best I can for ya'll:
The Knux opened up and repped Nola hard. I'm assuming like 3% of the spectators-which would be me and my buddies-had even heard of the Knux before, but they had the club jumping with Bang! Bang! and Cappuccino. They had a short set but it was a nice performance to start the night off right.
Proceeding them was Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish of Illville:

Boys know how to cold rock a party(did I mention I was front row?!). They jumped right into "One, Two" and then did jus about everything-besides Delivery Man- from "88" to Oscar. They also spit some new joint which needs to drop now. The highlight for me was "Bassment Party" which got the crow real live, and my buddy shouting out the Boogie on the mic, courtesy of Mikey. LOL. They fittingly rapped up their set with "Black Mags" and left. Killed it.

Finally, after an hour of delay, I mean waiting:

Man, I didn't know Tip could go so hard. He got the place rocking with the eloquent words of our President-Elect, and went into, you guessed it, Shaka. Me and my homies were holdin' up the "O" for Obama, and we had Q doing the same short after. That was crazy. Later, Tip showed why he does such a dope live show:

Thats right; man straight up hopped on the 2500 and went to work. So amazing.

He must have done about 15 or so records, but somewhere in between this happened:

The famous DJ (Superman) Scratch stole the show, sorta. He had the whole stage to himself as you can see and got the crowd hyped. He played a teaser of Hova's Public Service Announcement(at which point i glanced at the upper VIP section and saw Diddy? WTF? LOL)and followed with an array of tracks like "Engine Number 9" "Ante Up" and "Simon Says." Q had to come on the mic and ask permission to come back on stage.
He eventually came back and took us back to his circa 1992 days in the Tribe. With the joints that defined who they were, Tip jammed with Electric Relaxation, Scenario, Award Tour, and Check the Rhyme. Towards the end of the first verse of the latter song, Tip handed over the mic and I got to spit a bar or so. Sh*t was hella crazy.

For those of ya'll who haven't check out the tour yet, I suggest you hop in your automobile now and head to the House of Blues to catch the trio live in O-Town tomorrow

I leave ya'll with this:

R.I.P. Jay Dee. Your man Kamal got you.

Air Yeezys ARE for sale

Does anyone remember how Sole Collector did an article on the Air Yeezy and said they wouldn't be for sale to the public? Well, as I had predicted when I first read that article, this only meant it would be a while before they went for sale. According to Kanye:

The Louis Sneakers are coming out REEEEETARDED and the Yeezy's drop in march.

There you have it. March 2009, when I'm watching the Tarheels take the national title, the Yeezys will be dropping and backpackers everywhere will be lining up so they can drop $300 on Kanye kicks.

Want proof that I called this. Check out this post.

Whats Your Name Again?

SEMTEX TV - G.O.O.D. MUSIC BACKSTAGE [FEAT KID CUDI, MR HUDSON, CONSEQUENCE] from DJ SEMTEX on Vimeo.
The almighty DJ Semtex kicks it with the Cons (fool, word!), CuDi, and Mr. Hudson backstage on the GITDDT-thats the Glow In The Dark Dream Tour- which I'm lately envying with the new lineup it maintains, which is rolling squad deep. Remember that Mr. Hudson guy I briefly spoke about before? Well take a look see around the ten-minute mark and get a first impression of the singer/songwriter.

If that doesn't impress you, I assure you this track will. Have a listen

The Limited Edition

Some of us here at The Boogie had to wait until today to grab Ye's album, but I'm happy I waited, and that I stopped listening to leaks after hearing Love Lockdown, Heartless and Coldest Winter.

I walked into Best Buy today to find to versions of 808s & Heartbreak sitting in front of me: the hard case/standard and the soft case/limited edition.

I'm guessing the only difference is the bottom pic (the lyrics sprawled out on a second booklet, which the hard case doesn't have?).

I've enjoyed this album quite a bit, though this would still rank 4th in terms of Kanye's work, in my opinion (Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, 808s).

Its a toss-up in terms of my favorite track. I've loved Coldest Winter since the first time I heard it, but Robocop is a very close second, the true studio cut is amazing.

I don't dislike any track on this album, but I could do without Weezy's feature on See You In My Nightmares. He sounds like a dying dog on a few notes.

I'm praying Kanye drops a studio version of Pinocchio Story (the 12th track). It would be amazing all doped up on synth and autotune.

That's my two cents on it.

Dope? Nope.

This is not one of Kanye's best live performances, to say the least. His voice was way off. No, Kanye, I'm not hating, I'm just calling it like I see it. Plus, the women in the background are tripping on something. They look out of it. And the raccoon tail, come one. You're a trendsetter, so I'm sure there is going to be plenty of pole-jockers wearing these sometime in the future, but it was NOT a good look.

Sorry Kanye. I know you take stuff like this personally- and it's what I like about you most- but this was just not good. I can't really find anything positive to say other than "Your shades were pretty cool."

I'm sure Skateboard D will disagree with me. I'm not a hater, I'm just a man with an opinion.

Never On Schedule, But Always On Time

Thats right. You're staring at Ye's ground-breaking, straying from his normal boundaries album 808's and Heartbreak which is supposed to drop TOMORROW(!), but I happen to have gotten my hands on it. Apparently someone f*cked up, big time. And believe me, I'm not messing with ya'll and it's not some photo-shopped procedure I have created. I don't have the steady hands and the technology to perform an operation like that. Anyways, I don't know who else is aware of this but I may be one of the very few to obtain this album thus far.

As you may or may not be right now, I was in a state of perplexion but am fully taking advantage of this opportunity. The wait is over-for me at least. Sh*t is so fresh right now, my Zune can't even recognize the CD, hence myself acclaiming it one of the biggest f*ck ups in some time, but whatever.

Sidenote: For all ya'll thinking they were up on their sh*t saying that Kid Cudi was providing the vocals for Paranoid, you were wrong. He was replaced by this guy and I will further elaborate on this topic later

"Soooo Amazzzingggggg..."

*UPDATE*
Kanye performed a dope set tonite at the AMA's and we'll surely have the performance up in just a few hours.

Common launches sup cool flash website

So Common just launched his site/blog. It's very similar to the BBC Ice Cream blog as far as layout is concerned. Check it here.

Also, here is Chicago's finest talking about his new site:
He does a better job of explaining his site than I do. He says he's not an internet guy. Except, of course, when it comes to The Boogie.

Kanye, stop tempting me

So 'Ye put his whole album in an imeem playlist on his blog. It dropped last night at 3 A.M. (east coast), and I was working last night and feeling tempted. I'm saving myself until I get the actual album because I like having things to look forward to. I know, I know. It's a little weird, but nothing makes me feel better than anticipating something for a long time, than actually getting it. Thast's why I've decided to really punish myself and wait until Christmas to listen to it.

If waiting until the album drops is like saving yourself for marriage, than waiting until Christmas is like becoming a nun.

It's the REMIX baby

Colin Munroe with Wale and Dallas Austin make Will I Stay.

Wale is getting on Lil Wayne-status with all the remixes he's done. Of course, none of them get radio play, so maybe a better comparison would be J Rockwell. Either way, Wale continues his dopeness and it makes me happy to hear his verses, so keep them coming.

Colin Munroe's mixtape, The Unsung Hero, comes out December 1st. Go crazy folks.
Yeah, that's Brandon Jennings- the kid who everyone said was too self-centered. Well, he probably was before going to Europe, but they don't allow that kind of stuff over there (assuming LeBron and Kobe don't invade while still in their prime).

So far, he's been less than stellar statistically. I can't say how he has played overall because I haven't seen him play and basketball is the one sport where box scores don't tell the whole story. Vince Carter is a top-10 scorer this year, but he hasn't played defense since 2001. Meanwhile, Tayshaun Prince only scores 17 points-per-game, but his long, alien-like arms makes everyone in the league scared to try an open-court layup. His arms stretch as long as Michael Jordan on the Toon Squad. Ask Reggie.

But back to Jennings. Going over to Europe might have been the best thing for him. At Arizona, he would have been the best player in the Pac-10 and could tease opponents like he was the second coming of Jesus (Shuttlesworth of course). In Europe he's playing with grown men who pretty much hate him. Why?

A) He's making a lot more money than them (Under Armour gave him like $2 mil)

B) They know he's gonna be at the ESPYs in a few years with some actress that is currenty making a name for herself on the Disney Channel. (The Disney Channel... the farm system for hot female celebritites)

But from the looks of the play above, he's learning. Everyone says he was extremely cocky back at Oak Hill, but he must have lost his attitude along with his flat top.

GLC- Big Screen (featuring you know who)

Peep game.

G.O.O.D. Music family is a dynasty. This one is a slower jam, which means you'll never, ever hear it on the radio. Those folks only like rap that is super-hyper and has an instructional dance theme, but whatever.

Wear a Size 10?

...and have 60k?

Well then this eBay auction is for you.

Blu and Kid Cudi get together (don't ask who that white guy is)

So this song is actually by The Alchemist, but I'm much more concerned with the members of the freshman-10 team. It's been a while since I've heard a Blu track, but he reminds me why I love him with one verse. Kid Cudi doesn't shine as bright, but whatever.

The Alchemist-Therapy (feat. Blu, Evidence, and Kid Cudi)

Fam-Lay is Hyped

And so are we for the BBC/Ice Cream Fall/Winter November Releases (Cause, you know, we can afford it...). Here is what I think is the dopest piece of what the Fall/Winter has to offer:

These were released in Hong Kong just as the Neptunians were commemorating the 3rd anniversary of the Tokyo Flagship shop.

Yeah, we're Hypebeastin'

Next Thing I Know He Got a Song With Coldplay...

Heres the video for the remix to Lost featuring Hova, from of one of the illest mixtapes put together this year. Just by watching this makes me kick myself in the head about not seeing Chris and gang live just a week ago.
Look for this joint to appear on Coldplay's 8-song Prospekt's March EP which drops next week.
Dope.

Now They're Just F*cking With Us...

Apple just introduced a new prototype called the iBangle, a bracelet/iPod that uses an air chamber to inflate around the owners wrists to prevent slippage, and wireless earbuds for sound.

Which form of 'stupid' do we call this?

Check the rest here.

The Remix Specials Keep Coming

Remember how Danger Mouse really got this whole thing started when he did The Grey Album? DJ Benzi just remixed some Kanye joints with the help of A-Trak, The Kickdrums, Diplo and a bunch of other people. Check it here and, yes, there is a download link available in the near future.

Spanish Pistol Pete: Part II

Yeah, Mike D'Antoni is having a wet dream about this guy running the point for the Knicks next year. I'll post videos of Rubio whenever I find them.

No! Say It Ain't So!

As if I don't hate Jimmy Fallon enough, but when he takes Conan's slot in late night following Jay Leno's retirement, another retirement will take place in the form of The Roots. They will stop touring in March of '09 and become Fallon's house band for the show (? or Thought in Kevin's role... I don't dig it).

Let ?uest explain it for himself:

This next statement is sincere and from the heart:

Fuck you Jimmy Fallon.

Maroon 5 Fans, Hip Hop Fans Unite

I like Maroon 5. There, I said it. I think Adam Levine is the ish and liked when he teamed up with Mr. West on Late Registration. Therefore, I was pretty excited when I heard about Call and Response: The Remix Album. If you haven't heard yet, it's all the Maroon 5 hits remixed by the minds of Swizz Beats, Questlove, DJ Premier, Pharrell and others. I can't wait to hear Harder to Breath, The Cool Kids remix.

D.O.A.

I couldn't take it any longer. While I was restlessly sitting on my computer listening to the new(est)Terry Urban x Mick Boogie x B.O.B. mixtape just a few hours ago, it hit me. So, I headed out to Best Buy and coped the album. To use the most over-used adjective in the hip-hop facet of the blogosphere, its dopeeeeeee. I mean really, like potential album of the year status (Note: I have only made one go around on the CD and am currently keeping it in rotation as I write, so my opinion will most likely elevate). Never have I been so impelled to an album as this since probably The Cool, which WAS the best album of '07. Back to my man 88-Keys; this is easily the best debut solo album by an artist since 'Ye's The College Dropout and, wouldn't you know it, he happens to be the executive producer for this masterpiece (stay up, Yeezy!)
From the beginning of this story-mode CD, as I like to call it, we learn our man 8 is simply horny. Initially, I start to feel for Adam, after he wines-and-dines a chick only to find out she only sees him as a "Big Brother" and like many of us with troubles with people of the X-chromosome (females), is found in "The Friend Zone." The only way Adam will reside to being BFFs with the chick is if they are "Best F*cking Friends." Thats a little bit of a spoiler of the album for ya'll, but I'm telling you, its like playing Grand Theft Auto or any story mode video game; you'll become submerged into the story line and will be gripping to your seat-I sat in my room listening to this the whole way through.
From a production standpoint, this is arguably the most well-thought and put together album thats been conceived in some time. Its like Jay Dee is living through 8 in this album, and Keys is the closest thing-besides his brother, Illa J-to JD from a producing standpoint. I highly advise you to purchase this album for 2 reasons:
1) I'm going to come out an say it is the most creative (the friggin credits sheet is a report of investigation file, doesn't that say it all?) and possibly best album, this year.
2) Its your only chance our hearing it in it's entirety. In case you haven't noticed, there aren't any bootleg/leaks of this album to be found in the CNN of hip/hop AKA Internet Blogs.
Although I was desperately awaiting the arrival of 808's and Heartbreak come November 24th, this blessed CD may have mitigated my feelings. I'm not trying Yeezy; like I said before, he executive produced the record.
Get this album NOW! or if not, just like our homie Adam, you may become another victim to the power of the p*ssy.
